Good morning to you my dear readers, I hope this blog post finds you well and enjoying a moment of relaxation. I know you weren't expecting another blog post so soon but I had to squeeze one more in before the end of the month! I can't really quite believe we're nearly crossing over into April because March has been a bit of an up-and-down emotional whirlwind for me and I didn't think that would come to a close so quickly. However April means a lot of good things that I'm looking forward to such as a return to my adopted homeland of Northern Ireland this evening. I really can't wait as it has nearly 3 months since I was last there and I have missed my family, friends and beautiful scenery a lot! So the first week of April will bring lots of coffee shop trips, walks on the beach and massive hugs. I couldn't be more excited :D Despite the terrifying prospect of essays April will also contain another outing to Itchy Feet, attendance at the Ice Hockey

Sexism and Why It Sickens Me

Hello my dear readers, I hope this blog post finds you well and refreshed. Since my last post  I have been having a grand old time with my little sister Eve as she has been visiting me in Sheffield as a post-birthday treat. It has been great to show her round some of my favourite haunts and make myself relax a bit too. This has also provided ample opportunity for my childish side to emerge through trips for gelato and excursions to the park, which has made me very happy :) For this blog post I would like to share with you some of my recent musings around the topic of sexism and particularly the area of objectification. (As per usual I would like to state this is entirely my own opinion on the subject, I have never billed this blog as oracular and I'm not going to start now. I do however think it is an important topic to discuss.) It came to the forefront of my mind a couple of weeks ago when me and my friend Nicola went for Hot Chocolate at our new favourite Sheffield hau

Hello my darlings, I hope this blog post finds you well. It's been several weeks since I last wrote to you all and I apologise for the delay, things got crazy busy and this was the thing that I kept putting off in order to read another sermon or sprint between lectures, society meetings, gym and work. However there were some highlights such as seeing my Dad and a Man Utd win over Tottenham, curry night with the English gang before Easter break, getting to know new friends and sunny days in the beautiful Sheffield. There has probably been many wonderful things I've forgotten to mention so apologies to those events I have forgot to mention, my brain is a little frazzled and full up at the moment but I enjoyed them all! Hot Choc Tuesday at my new home Gelato Original  Love my Dad. Love Man U. Best of both worlds!!! We won <3 MMMMMMMM Crappy Eclipse Gorgeous Sheff Now it's Easter 'holidays' (a fake time off where we have to write

Hello all and welcome to the first March instalment of Observations of Fictional Girl, I hope this post finds you well and enjoying a degree of relaxation this Monday evening.  As per usual here is the weekly update on my goings on of this week. Last Sunday was lovely with a long coffee catch with Emily and a Dominos after a tiring shift at work. These little moments make life so good :) If i could live my whole life eating Red Velvet Cake I would be happy. FOOD IS THE BEST Last Monday feels a long while ago now but the highlight of it was meeting up with my friend Jess for a coffee and catch up. I love these friend 'dates' and it had felt like far too long ago since the last one and we made the most of the time together by combining our love for conversation with our love for food when we went to Nosh. White Hot Chocolate and a Chocolate Brownie Wednesday was another food highlight as me and Nicola went to try out a new Gelato place that had opened i
